چکیده

The partial or complete confinement of waves in an open system is omnipresent nature and wave-based materials technology. Here, we theoretically analyze experimentally observe the formation a trapped mode with perfect conversion (TMPC) between flexural longitudinal waves, by achieving quasi-bound state continuum (BIC) elastic wave system. latter allows quasi-BIC semi-infinite background plate when Fano resonance hybridizes balances their radiative decay rates. We demonstrate that Fabry-P\'erot realized simultaneously, TMPC formed BIC approaches infinite quality factor. Furthermore, show can be tuned continuously to through critical frequency conversion, which offers possibility arbitrarily high Our reported concept physical mechanism new routes achieve tunable factor systems.

Topological Subspace-Induced Bound State in the Continuum.

We propose and experimentally realize a new kind of bound states in the continuum (BICs) in a class of systems constructed by coupling multiple identical one-dimensional chains, each with inversion symmetry. In such systems, a specific separation of the Hilbert space into a topological and a nontopological subspace exists. Bulk-boundary correspondence in the topological subspace guarantees the ...

Continuum versus Quasi-Bound State Tunneling in Novel Device Architectures

In contrast to bulk MOSFETs, in UTB devices using SOI substrates, also the geometrical confinement yields quantization. This strongly affects the local density of states, and gives rise to quasi-bound states (QBS), hence the assumption of a continuum of states is no longer valid. Each QBS gives rise to a tunneling current which follows from the number of electrons occupying the state over the c...

Perfect sets and collapsing continuum

Under Martin’s axiom, collapsing of the continuum by Sacks forcing S is characterized by the additivity of Marczewski’s ideal (see [4]). We show that the same characterization holds true if d = c proving that under this hypothesis there are no small uncountable maximal antichains in S. We also construct a partition of 2 into c perfect sets which is a maximal antichain in S and show that s-sets ...

1 Bound States in the Continuum

Bound states in the continuum are waves that, defying conventional wisdom, remain localized even though they coexist with a continuous spectrum of radiating waves that can carry energy away. Their existence was first proposed in quantum mechanics and, being a general wave phenomenon, later identified in electromagnetic, acoustic, and water waves. They have been studied in a wide variety of mate...

Mode conversion in the cochlea?

It is suggested that the frequency selectivity of the ear may be based on the phenomenon of mode conversion rather than critical layer resonance. The distinction is explained and supporting evidence discussed. PACS numbers: 43.64.Kc, 43.66.Ba
